Frequently Asked Questions

What Style of Riding Do You Teach?

We teach English saddle (the one without the horn) and focus on a specific style within that called Dressage. We welcome all levels of students from beginning riders to someone working on upper level movements.

What Is Dressage?

Dressage is a set of precision techniques that use an English saddle and a great deal of skill on both the rider and horses parts. We teach you to dance gracefully with your horse around the arena.

What Should I Wear?

We require our students to wear long pants like leggings, jodhpurs or breeches and boots with a small heel to prevent your foot slipping through the stirrup.

Some of our students, including kiddos, like to wear thin gloves with to help with grip or to have a buffer as they get used to gripping the leather reigns.

Are Helmets Provided?

A proper fitting riding helmet is very important, we recommend you bring your own helmet, but we do have some at the farm just in case.

We can’t guarantee we’ll have one that fits though.

If you’re interested in buying a helmet, we recommend Dover Saddlery, in Plaistow, NH. They have associates who can help fit you with the best helmet for your head.

Am I Required to Sign a Release Form?

Yes. We have a release form that we require all riders, drivers, and visitors to sign.

Do You Have A Cancellation Policy?

Yes. We require 24 hours notice when cancelling any lessons.

How Can I Pay For My Lessons?

At current, we accept Cash, Check, and Venmo for all payments.

Where Do We Ride?

At Moonlight Equestrian Center, we have both an indoor and outdoor arena.

Do You Offer Trail Riding?

Yes! Our farm is lucky enough to be surrounded by stunning trails that we take our riding and driving students on once we feel they’re confident enough to ride outside the arena.

Is There a Weight Limit?

For horseback riding their is no exact weight limit, but as a rule a horse shouldn’t carry more than 15-20% of their total body weight. This % includes both weight of the rider and the tack.

As of right now, we have the capacity to take on a student who weighs at most 250lbs.

For those of you over that weight limit, we recommend checking out our Driving lessons since a horse can pull much more than it can carry!
